Celebration of 78th Indian Independence Day at MKSSS

15th Aug. 2024 - The 78th Indian Independence Day was celebrated in an auspicious atmosphere at the Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha (MKSSS). Retired Wing Commander of Indian Air Force Shri. Avinash Muthal was the chief guest for this event, visited along with his spouse. Chairman of MKSSS Shri. Ravindra Dev, Secretary Dr. P. V. S. Shastri, Life Worker Smt. Vaishali Potdar, Head of Mahilashram Hostel Smt. Suman Tambe etc. welcomed the Chief Guests on behalf of the organization.

After visiting the Samadhi of Bharat Ratna Maharshi Karve in Vrindavan Bagh, the Guests were escorted by NCC students by 'slow marching' at the flag hoisting place i.e. in front of the Mahilaashram hostel. Before hoisting the flag, the chief guest and other dignitaries paid the tributes to the idol of Bharat Mata. At exactly 8 in the morning Tricolor national flag was hoisted in the premises of the institution under the auspices of Mr. Avinash Muthal.

After the presentation of the National Anthem and State Anthem, NCC and RSP teams saluted the national flag and dignitaries through the march. Speaking in this ceremony, Mr. Avinash Muthal appreciated the handsome 'Route March' of the squads. He asserted that the term 'women's empowerment' is misleading as all women are inherently capable and women should recognize their power. Referring to the verse 'Yatra Naryastu Pujyante, Ramante Tatra Devata:' he added that everyone should worship the power of a woman, i.e. give due respect to her through our actions.'

Having served in the Indian Air Force for 23 years, Shri. Muthal - along with his spouse Smt. Vasundhara - is now working in the Vidarbha region of Maharshtra for the local farmers as a mentor, promoting eco-friendly and chemical free farming. He shared his experiences of the women's work in that area through his speech. ‘Though these women aren’t educated formally, they have performed better than the men, on the basis of their hard work and inherent multi-skills’, he told. He also put the example of ‘Seed Mother’ Padmashri Rahibai Papare before the students, which is also an inspiration in this regard.

“If proper education is added to the various inherent skills of an Indian woman, then a woman who is basically Shakti will not only deserve the respect of the society, but she will also be able to lead the society in a proper way ; Education is therefore, important'' said Mr. Avinash Muthal as a message of the Independence Day.

The program was introduced by Mrs. Savita Ranade of Parvatibai Teacher's College and moderated by Mrs. Savita Vedpathak. After the program, the chief guests visited the Kuti (Hut) of Maharshi Karve along with MKSSS dignitaries.
