Dr. Dhondo Keshav Karve, a great visionary and a social worker was deeply moved by the deplorable conditions of women in the society. He established “Hingne Stree Shikshan Samstha” in Pune, an Institution merely for women’s education way back in 1896.The Institution is successfully and relentlessly working till date; with the objectives of uplift, emancipation and education of women. As an expression of gratitude and respect for the pioneering social work done by Bharat Ratna- Dr. D.K. Karve; the institution was renamed after him as “Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha”.

In the olden days; educating girls and women was not much accepted by the society. Attaining education was not at all easy for girls. They had to highly depend on the reformers and patrons in the society. However with time, the perception about education has changed but the need for funds still continues.

The students of “Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha” (MKSSS), Pune - coming from low income group are not charged a single penny for their tuition fees. Nevertheless, the allied expenditure sum up largely. It comprises of the expenses for hostel accommodation, breakfast, tiffin, dinner, other educational expenses etc. The students approaching the institution substantially belong to the rural areas and weaker sections of the society.

The fund is termed as ‘Bhaubeej Fund’ as it rightly signifies the very Indian belief and value of morality and dutifulness. For an increased participation of the potential patrons in the society, scheme called “Bhaubeej Fund Collection” exists in conjunction with Bhaubeej Fund. The scheme is run by a number of volunteers from among the students who empowered the collection of these funds.

A large number of girls have received support from the ‘Bhaubeej Fund’. It has proved to be a valuable resource fulfilling the social cause for last 90 years. Financial support extended to these students helps them accomplish their educational undertaking; further contributing in the evolution of an advanced society.

This contribution can be done in Cash or Cheque in favor of ‘Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha’. The contributor, who contributes more than Rs.500.00 will get the deduction U/S 80 G of the Income Tax Act.
